We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Materials Manager to join our team. As a Materials Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing the efficient and effective management of our company's materials and inventory. Responsibilities: Inventory Management: Develop and implement strategies for inventory control, ensuring optimal levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods. Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to ensure sufficient stock availability for production and customer orders. Conduct regular audits to reconcile physical inventory with system records and address discrepancies promptly. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement inventory optimization initiatives, such as lean manufacturing and just-in-time practices. Procurement and Supplier Management: Oversee the procurement process, including sourcing, negotiation, and selection of suppliers. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of materials while adhering to quality standards. Monitor supplier performance, evaluate their capabilities, and identify opportunities for improvement. Conduct cost analyses and implement cost reduction strategies without compromising quality and service levels. Demand Planning and Forecasting: Collaborate with sales and production teams to develop accurate demand forecasts. Utilize historical data, market trends, and customer insights to create reliable demand plans. Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure the availability of materials to meet production and customer demands. Continuously review and improve demand planning processes and methodologies. Warehouse and Logistics Management: Manage the overall operation of the company's warehouses, ensuring efficient layout, organization, and utilization of space. Optimize inbound and outbound logistics processes, including transportation, shipping, and receiving. Coordinate with logistics providers to ensure on-time delivery of materials and products. Implement best practices for warehouse management, including inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, and cycle counting. Team Leadership and Collaboration: Lead and develop a team of materials and inventory professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting cross-functional communication and knowledge sharing. Work closely with other departments, such as production, sales, and finance, to align material planning and inventory management activities with business objectives. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus. Proven experience as a Materials Manager or similar role within the [specify industry] industry. Strong knowledge of inventory management principles, demand planning, and procurement strategies.
